Request for refund or reassignment – no response from tutor

I made a payment of 173 AZN on May 17 and submitted my request to learn English with the tutor listed in the following link:

I've sent a message to a tutor and I paid to do that. But I didn't receive any email to welcome me, or any way to access the platform. Then I see that the tutor says that does in-person classes (on the filter) but in the description says it will do online only.

I gave 2 classes to a srudent that paid tutoroo directly. She decided not to continue the classes with me. Consequently, I asked tutoroo to pay me 50 percent of what she paid them, as per what they mention on their website.
The student paid them 210 dollars and so tutoroo should have paid me 105 dollars.
After months of asking them and receiving either no answer or a vague "we've sent your request to the refunds team and will be in touch.", "it is not our responsibility, we've sent it to the refunds team".
I have NEVER heard from this refund team.
I have also heard feedback from other tutors who had the same experience and from students who tried to get a refund but were unable to.
The customer service is terrible.
They literally blame and make false accusations. I think they do thay to confuse people. This way, they get to not refund them. It is a very elaborated scam but a scam nonetheless. Stay away from this website. They are extremely dishonest.

Won’t refund me after the tutor ghosted
The tutor advised me they would go on a holiday for one month, we agreed on a start date for my lessons. The lesson start date came and went, I heard nothing. Tutoroo english lessons never supplied and never refunded. Pure scam
About 1 month ago I purchased of private English lessons at home from Tutoroo which had various photos and profiles of English teachers in my city on its site.
After a week, all the teachers in my city disappeared from the Tutoroo site .
To date, after hundreds of my emails and messages on their messenger (they don't have a phone to call, nor a physical address), only Jericha responds occasionally.
The answers are always the same, like ''we're sorry, we'll sort it out see you soon with your problem'' or ''our team will contact you'' or other similar things. They say that their policy does not provide for refunds, but they are not able to provide the service, that is, english teacher's lessons.
They are based in Singapore, but also operate in Europe where European laws apply and not those of Singapore.
I have made a police report and I want to move forward because this kind of thing is unacceptable.
Unfortunately I have only now seen the various reviews online where other customers say exactly the same thing and Tutoroo responds to the reviews with the usual phrases" we're sorry, we'll resolve your problem immediately...", but the weeks pass without offering either the service or a refund.
How is this called? PURE SCAM
From September 25th to today Tutoroo has not given me even 1 hour of lessons nor even 1 euro refund (I paid 300.00 euros on September 25th for native language lessons at home). For a week they have blocked me from writing on their site Tutoroo messenger, but every day I write to them by email and Jericha (the only one who writes to me) replies every morning the same sentences for 2 months, like ''our Monaco team will contact you as soon as possible ... or ... we are sorry, but we appreciate your patience...'''.
I would like the phone or email of this famous Monaco team, silence comes.
The Monaco team does not exist, only this Jericha from the Philippines (nickname) exists.
I have hundreds of emails with all this that I write here, but how you can see Tutoroo replies here that they are contacting me and I don't reply.

For me it was a great theft, and a great scam and people need to know who is Tutoroo.

For me Tutoroo is SCAM.
Untill now nothing has been resolved with Tutoroo.Tutoroo does not have any teacher(english mother tongue from UK) and proposed me just one guy(andrew from UK) at the end of September.Andrew had just 1 hour on monday and 1 hour on Tuesday at lunch time.It did not match with me.
After this proposal, Tutoroo disappeared, they didn't offer me any other teacher who comes to my home and is a native English speaker. I repeat, no other proposal. As I already wrote, they don't provide the teacher and don't refund. I have all the emails about this I can send you.

It's not fair to say that everything was solved with Tutoroo. Last week I was in the USA and I couldn't reply to you, but now I can. I hope that the world is informed as much as possible about the scams that exist online.
We disgruntled customers of this awful company need to form a GROUP so that we may collectively approach the Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Small Claims Court. Even Singapore has laws about contractual cooling of periods and refunds that this company, TUTOROO ignores as it knows that it will cost more to make a small claims settlement via the Singapore Small Claims Court than most of us can afford or are able to deal with such from afar. However, the owner of this sham company is Dutch and we may well be able to get at him via EU trading standard laws.

I have given 4 classes of 1h30 each, that is 6 hours. Tutoroo never paid me, even though they said to me in the chat "send you paypal accound, we will pay you the 60€." I never received it. I send a total of 12 messages to ask for what they owed me, especially because I am a student that need this money to pay for my college fees.

A disgraceful organization who take your money and do nothing with it. I wanted to have a one to one tutor for my child, thinking this is great someone who is not that far. Surprisingly, she was a fake tutor that does not exist and is still on their site. Paying upfront without a reputable tutor, they suggested one from abroad! Online, for a child of 4 years old. Are you kidding me!
They had a choice to find a physical tutor like the fake one and they could not. Im nonstop sending mails for the refund and all i get is useless responses. I will make sure they never work again. This site is worthless.

Refund not given
I booked a tutor through Tutoroo where it was advertised as 28,000 won/hr (about $22) and then was asked to pay for the first two lessons but was charged 84,000 won. I didn’t catch this initially but when I asked them about it and asked for a refund of the second lesson after getting the first lesson, they refused. And then said the lesson was 42,000 won/lesson if it was just once a week.
Basically, they got money from people not being careful and from the reviews here, it looks like they never return money. I am surprised companies like this with such poor service and return policies exist. No one should use them since they also seem to scam the tutors but not giving them any of the money from the first two weeks of lessons. Had I known, I would have have just booked two 30 min lessons or used a different tutoring website.
Desired outcome: A refund of the second lesson I have not used and a change in their refund policy.

Service not recieved/ false advertising
Dear TUTOROO,
I found your website whilst looking for an Arabic teacher. I chose yours since I found a teacher who lives locally to me as I only wanted in person lessons. I would never want zoom lessons. The teachers profile I found had set his availability to mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends which is why I chose him as I can only do lessons in the weekend and evenings.
When we got in touch with each other he responded he can only do mornings. This is false advetising. The only reason I chose TUTOROO and this tutor is because of his availibility and also the fact he offered in person lessons.
Please find attached images stating he is only available in the mornings, when his profile CLEARLY says all availalibility. Again he has falsely advertised and I want a full refund. I do not want any other Arabic Teacher from overseas. You have no other Arabic teacher in Auckland.
Again to reiterate, I only want in person lessons and you cannot provide me a teacher in Auckland.

No refund
Similar to others, when I originally paid for a tutor I had requested it to be live. The only tutor who responded was for online tutoring. I live in Barcelona, which is a big city. Other tutors were contacted with no response at all from them. I have asked for a refund 5 times via email, was told the 'Barcelona team' would be in contact with me, but nothing has happened. I feel like this could be an amazing service that is just done very poorly. How unfortunate.

My complaint is the same as many others. I booked a tutor, he didn't respond, and I was offered other tutors but at much higher rates AND online tutors in different countries even though I specified that live was essential for us. There is no offer to credit the money I've already repaid to a more expensive tutor let alone to get a refund. I keep asking the same question and all I get is more expensive or remote offers. It's an important life lesson: avoid the middlemen companies like this and try to deal directly with people via a local language school. This has caused me a huge amount of time and frustration.

On January 5th I paid for 2 week classes with a specific teacher on the Tutoroo website but he never replied to me. When I complained about that, Tutoroo tried to appoint me another teacher for the same language but with a much more expensive fee. When I said I did not agree with that and asked for a refund Tutoroo just ignores my messages and this has been going on now for almost 3 months.

It's been 4 months since this incident and, not only I don't have the money, but the Tutoroo Support Service is ignoring me and I'm very upset. I beg you to return the money of the classes as soon as possible as I have been told, and tell me what I should do to make an official complaint for the treatment received.

No refund
My unpleasant story with Tutoroo has lasted since 3 Nov. I found a suitable tutor for my son and booked two lessons. I was interested in lessons with this one person. Despite information in her profile that she was available she never responded to my message and the lessons never happened. I was waiting until 8 Nov when Tutoroo apologised for the delay and recommended to me other tutors. No one met my requirements and I wanted to resign. I asked Tutoroo for a refund on 18 Nov. There was no reaction to my complaint whatsoever until I posted a negative comment on their FB, they responded to me then and on 23 Dec I again demanded a refund and removal of my account and data from their account.
On 27 Dec I received an answer form Tutoroo, I quote: "Hi Sabina! May I ask if you ever got your money back from any airline after purchasing a flight before Covid hit, it's the same with us, once you've started hiring our services to introduce you to the best available tutors, your payment is non-refundable and remains absolutely redeemable into private lessons with any TUTOROO tutor. Thank you!"
This is ridiculous and dishonest. And what do airlines have to do with Tutoroo services. I have the legal right to resign if they can't provide a suitable person.
If I don't receive the refund, I will take the case further and post negative comments about them everywhere to warn everybody against their practices.

They do not honour their own payout policy
According to the policy on their website a tutor is entitled to half of the first two weeks’ payment should a student decide to quit lessons after only two weeks (tutoroo takes the first two weeks’ payment and thereafter the student pays you directly)
The first time a student did this was January 2022. I have sent more than I can count emails and messages asking about this. At one stage I sent a very lengthy email explaining how disgusting their service is and that I demand my payment. Empty promises each and every time. I will get a reply from them but they NEVER followup and you always have to beg them for information. They have horrific customer service, it’s a shame their plaftorm is so big because there are probably thousand more teachers waiting to receive payment. I get most of my students through them, and for that I am grateful, but that does not excuse their lack of honouring their own policy. Just take the policy off of the website if you’re not going to pay the tutors back. But if they do less tutors will sign up of course. Truly disgusting, I am very angry that I’ve waited an ENTIRE YEAR to be payed and still no sign of receiving what was promised.

No services provided, fees not returned
I have ordered a german lessons via tutoroo and paid for 4 lessons in advance, but it was not provided due to unavailibility of the tutor. Tutoroo refused to return my money stating it is their right to assing me with another teacher. No teacher is available (i am waiting for the teacher already a months) at their website but they still refuse to return the fee.

Tutoroo is Dishonest and likely a Scam
The website and business direction look good which draw me to find a tutor with them. However, they require you to make payment for two lesson first before finding you a suitable tutor, However they are not able to find one. And no refund. They do not want to refund me.
This is not the right way to do business, great platform but handle by bad mindset, you don’t collect money only if you are able to provide your honest service.

Tutor service is very painful customer service experience
Tutoroo is a dishonest joke; they make you pay and then if the tutor pulls out they hold your money hostage while they try (unsuccessfully) to find an alternate. I booked Nov 25, asked for refund Nov 26. Multiple emails from Tutoroo with reasons to hold on to my money...finally they agree Dec 2 to refund me, but of course, they don't. Ask again on Dec 7 and they are 'following up'. This group is so desperate to hang on to my $60 that they forgot I am the customer. There are many other tutor sites that are far more reputable; Tutoroo is not. Do NOT do business with dishonest peopkle or if you do, expect the worst. Wish I had never met them.

Tutoroo owes me money for tutoring
Tutoroo has failed to pay me despite many messages saying they will. The money they owe me is for tutoring a student signed up on their website. The student paid Tutoroo on 31 August 2022 and then received two online classes with me. Tutoroo confirmed the student did not want to continue after that so I requested half of the student's tuition according to Tutoroo's terms of service. Tutoroo acknowledged they owe me the money and said it would be sent after 30 days. I have followed up several times since then and they keep telling me their payment team is working on the payout. It is now 24 October 2022 and I have still not been paid. I've also discovered many other tutors and students have reported Tutoroo here and at Trust Pilot dot com for similar or worse practices. I strongly recommend against anyone trusting or using the Tutoroo service.
