Hero Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Drains & Electrical review: Scam

I had a water heater leaking in my house, I called Hero and they came over same day.

Unfortunately, I had to go to work and left my wife who was at home in charge of what to do. She texted me while I was at work, and they quoted her $6,844 for a water heater install! That is beyond insane and not even in the same universe as what others will charge. I told my wife several times not to do it and...she was between meetings...and pressed, so she had him install this anyways. She told him I said it was too expensive, so he knocked the warranty down to 6 years instead of 10, and did not install some extra flow regulator, which put the price still at $5,000!

The service person lied to her and told her the water heater is the exact same one we had before and it is not just a water heater you can get at "Home Depot". After I came home from work, I looked at the water heater, and it is a different brand from what we had, and you can buy this same water heater at any of the big box stores.

This place is a complete scam and pushing towards criminal activity. I looked at the receipt there is no breakdown of the cost of materials or the hourly rate or work that was done. I called today, and they said they won't give me a breakdown and were reluctant for me to talk to a supervisor. Then then they said that it will take 24-48 hours for someone to call me. I haven't heard back.

My friend had the same exact water heater installed in his house recently, gas - $1,800 with install and he got a 10 year warranty.

My other friend called his buddy who owns an HVAC company and sent him pics and told him the situation. He advised that price was outrageous.

They took advantage of a female that doesn't know any better and completely scammed her.
