Penguin Windows reviews and complaints
Windows not closing completely
I have the sideways sliding windows and now two of them will not shut completely so that the lock will not close. There is nothing on the window frame or in the track that will prevent them from closing.
This is a big security problem since I can't lock the windows.
The company seems to be out of business so I cannot get anyone locally to fix this problem. I would like to find the company that actually made the windows so they can repair or replace them.
Country of complaint: United States
Desired outcome: Get someone to fix the windows without me having to spend any more money on them.
My husband bought these windows about ten years ago and until last year they were okay, but now some of them are having problems. Beside those two windows, some metal pieces fell out of another one that is a double-hung window. Since we were promised a lifetime guarantee I think whoever manufactured the windows should replace them or give me a refund.
Changing Their Name AGAIN ... UGH
Penguin Windows changes their name AGAIN!!! How many times do they have to change it??? There aren't enough fingers. THIS time it's "DeBella Exteriors". Buyer BEWARE!!!

Ok well I am writing this because I was one of the people who worked for penguin in Danvers and I wanted to let everyone know how well they treated there employees we are and was only expendable employees at there service all the time running leeds they drummed up by hoodwinking people at the stores shopping to get us in the door and yes they are good windows but I know there are comparable windows outthere at much lower price we had to bust our ### everyday to go and sell these windows sometimes driving over 1200 miles weekly and Saturdays was mandatory and you had to do that stupiid calls from in the house just so we could fake a discount we know fully before giving the price how low we can go before we even call .So what do you get for trying your best and doing the right thing ..Not even the courtsey of a phone call to explain what was happening with the company that just three weeks ago kicked off the year of the penguin and built all of our hopes up that we was going someplace .Well we was going someplace alright we was heading right to the unemployment line ...Thank you Penguin windows

rude saleswoman
the saleswoman that came to my house to give a free window estimate was extremely rude and unprofessional. She told me my husband had to be home in order for her to give me a presentation. I told her that I was the homeowner and that I was not legally married and that I was the one that made decisions regarding my home. She then asked me how long I had been together with my partner and some other personal questions regarding my relationship ( how unprofessional). She then tried to make me feel bad/stupid when she called her supervisor and said she would need to reschedule for another time when my boyfriend that I called husband would be home ( I call my partner my "husband" as we have been together for 28 years and I consider him to be my husband although we have not gone to a church to exchange vows to become socially accepted as husband and wife). The saleswoman's whole attitude was negative towards me. After she told me that she would not do the presentation unless he was home, she insisted and started to show me "just one quick sample" at which time I refused to listen to and asked her to leave. Being the pushy broad that she was, she asked if we could reschedule and I told her I could not do such a thing without asking my husband first. I believe her name was Rosemary and she had another woman with her (who was actually very polite). This occured in Plymouth MA on Aug. 7th. My phone number is [protected] if you have any questions. I had originally been approached at B.J.s Wholesale Store where they had offered me and pressured me to have a simple estimate given for new windows and then I would receive a $25.00 gift card to B.J.s. Since I have been in the need for new windows and I am not currently working I thought it would be no harm to get the estimate and then I could use the gift card to buy some food during this difficult financial time for my family. I thought wrong. I will be contacting B.J. s as well to tell them my feelings regarding Penguin Windows. Dawn Immar

It's getting harder and harder to get anything free nowadays, eh? Maybe you'll have to actually rely on yourself to feed your family.
Buyer Beware!!! Do not even think about doing buisness with this company!
My wife and myself are expecting our first child and decided to replace the contractor grade windows in our home. We felt that the higher grade windows would not only provide additional energy savings, but more importantly to us...better noise insulation from the street out front. The salesman and woman came to our home and after a 3-1/2 to 4hr presentation we signed a contract. The windows were very expensive (about $2000 each) but we felt that doing it right the first time would eventually pay off in the end. The contract states that you have 3 days to cancel. The salesman called me the following day to tell me of a potential issue and this is where I should have cancelled the contract. We expressed our concern, that if there was an issue, we would be unable to cancel our order being outside the three day window for cancellations. He reassured us, that there would't be an issue, and that we needn't be worried about this at all. Boy were we wrong! He scheduled the return trip for measurement the following weekend. When the salesman returned on Sunday after the windows had been remeasured, he confirmed that there was, in fact, an issue. The window opening would be too small due to the larger frames on the new replacement window. Due to the smaller window opening, this would cause them not to be compliant with current fire code. The salesman then gave us our options: Option 1: Pay an additional $590 per window (4 of them) to have the window openings modified to allow the larger required windows to fit. Option 2: Install sliding windows. This would change the look of the house and we did not accept this as a viable option. Option 3: Remove the section between the 2 windows and install one big window. The salesman did not offer pricing on this but said it would be expensive. We stated that none of the options were attractive and the salesman told me not to worry and that he would have his manager call me the following day. The manager called me the following day and told me that I needed to pay the additional $590 and reminded that I was unable to cancel the contract. I indicated to the manager that we had already spent more than we had budgeted and were not prepared to pay more. He didn't miss a beat and went on to tell me that I was unable to cancel and the contract was iron clad. If I did not pay the $590 they would simply move forward and install the windows stated in the contract even though they would not comply with fire code. They tried to get me to accept this by telling me that they were "close enough" and "nobody would even be able to see it". I told them I did not feel comfortable doing this because this was a safety violation and a big liability issue as well. I do not want to put my family or someone else's at risk if we decided to sell. I have filed multiple complaints and when I called the manager again to see if he would be willing to negotiate, he went off. Firstly he complained that I did not allow them adaquate time to negotiate up front. I explained the week of calls and multiple conversations with managers, salesman, and installation managers. He threatened me that I was in a contract and I just need to accept that. They are installing windows and if they need to knock walls down to get them to fit, so be it. I explained to the manager that we were not ready for a construction project, but this simply fell on deaf ears. We are now seeking legal representation to deal with this issue. Please what ever you do, DO NOT do business with this company. They will bully you into signing a contract, and then dump "additional" charges on you afterwards. If you question the charges they will throw the contract in your face and ask...Don't you understand that you are commited to a contract? Do yourself a favor and avoid this company like the plague!

Disregard
We had recieved an almost full set of windows which at the time was called Statewide. One of the sashes were broken within a week, We called and someone came out to look. We were then told that someone will be out to replace it soon, this never happened. Then we found out that they switched their name to Pengiun Windows. Their so-called lead Sales guy stated that it was due to an overwhelming amount of businesses called Statewide. Later just found out it was due to way too many law suits again them under the other name. Hmmm. So, then, my Husband accidentally busted out slider glass door, and the only was I was able to get these guys out here to look at it was to say I needed another slider door. This being true, I allowed the sales guy to come out. He stated that since we were repeat customers, they send out the sales managers. I really doubt this. Well, he took rough measurements, gave us a quote that was outrageous. He then called me the next day stating he needed my husbands financial info for our financing and would call me the next day. No call of course. No replies to my e-mails. One guy came out to measure, I was irrate, he said he would look into the issue and again, no phone calls. Then, finally we got a call for the service of the past issues and I laid into the gal on what had been happening. Poor gal, I felt bad but told her point blank that I do plan on getting the new slider door but never from their company. Someone is suppose to come out next Saturday to replace the broken slider doos and sash, we'll see. Never ever in my life will I pay for another window from these guys nor will I ever ever refer them.

Non-performance
This company provides what appears to be a thorough and complete demonstration of a window, with claims that it will save you up to 40% on your heating and cooling bills. The guarantee that they use has a tiny disclaimer that they will reimburse you up to $ 500.00 if these windows do not perform as specified. I have had these windows installed for the last 2 or 3 years and saw NO CHANGE in my heating and cooling consumptions as a result of the installation.
These are very expensive windows and DO NOT PERFORM as you will be told.
DO NOT PURCHASE PENGUIN WINDOWS! THEY DON'T WORK!

The only way that we avoided the previous complaints was that we had our own energy audit ( independent of then STATEWIDE ) and our original windows were so low quality that we had no where to go but UP. Will seriously be looking at our original contracts to see what the mark up was on our second set of OVERMEASURED windows . Aside from the exterior weather worn chip in one frame - they have performed as expected and that was our hope for an older New England home. A shame our first experience was not the "norm" thereafter.
Satisfactory Solution
Regarding my "Misrepresentation" complaint posted March 27, 2010. Penguin Windows met with us yesterday and within one hour we came to a satisfactory conclusion to all. There had been miscommunication as to what the substitute windows would be like versus those originally ordered due to Airport Zone soundproofing requirements in our area. Quality and appearance of the windows is very satisfactory, the wrong direction opening sliding door will be replaced, and the price has been satisfactorily renegotiateed.
It has been suggested to them that they put a disclaimer in their ads advising customers in some locales may not be able to get the original triple pane windows due to building codes in so9me cities.
We are now satisfied with what is to be completed, and the overall workmanship and withdraw our complaint.

MISREPRESENTATION
We contracted with Penguin Windows last August to have our existing triple pane aluminum framed windows replaced with Penguin's product. Though the price seemed high ($26, 000) the financing and monthly price arranged was acceptable and we were convinced by their demonstration and claims.
On September 7th 2009 they arrived and began installation, They
were 2/3 done on September 9th and we were generally satisfied with the product except for 2 narrow side windows on a bay window. For these they were installing just the glass panels held in place by wood frames, saying that the windows were too narrow to be made in their vinyl frames. (12-13" Wide) We advised that this was unsightly and unacceptable. While attempting to nail the framing in place they hit a knot or former nail and the new nails cracked the glass panels.
Approximately 15-30 minutes after this a City of Des Moines building inspector drove by and observing them at work stopped to check the work and finding that they did not have a building permit, placed a "Stop Work" order on the job. (They had started work on a Tuesday and planned to be done by the end of the Thursday 3 days later, and didn't even consider that our city required a building permit.) After much negotiation by them (Penguin) it was also found that Penguin's product does not meet the City of Des Moines and Sea Tac Airport's soundproofing codes. Over the next 7 months, Penguin was forced by the city to negotiate with local window makers to come up with a product to meet the local codes. We were finally advised in December that they had agreed with a local manufacturer (Milgard) for replacements. A representative from Penguin then met with us and an agreement was signed that they would replace the windows that they had installed to date, (as soon as they were built) and if acceptable, would complete the job at the agreed terms. If we were not satisfied it was agreed that we would not be charged for the replacements. At that time, the critical factor was that the Milgard
window frames would not have the same finish (Oak grain on inside of house) as the original ordered windows. They called us back approximately 2-3 weeks later to advise that the manufacturer would be able to use Penguin's framing materials after all so the windows would
appear as we originally intended.
On March 25 they arrived and began installation. They did have a building permit and posted it on the side of the house. The city of Des Moines inspector was scheduled to inspect the work and an open frame the following day to assure that the job was being done to their standards. However, shortly before the inspector arrived, I realized that the
windows being installed were only double pane. I asked the building inspector about this and was told that the building code required that only double pane glass be used with a ½" space between, and that the insides filled with ARGON instead of the KRYPTON gas advertised by Penguin.
Until this point, at no time were we ever advised that the windows would only be Double pane and filled with a different gas.
A few hours later they began installing the final glass, a sliding door. The original door was 2 section with (looking out from the family room) the sliding portion to the right. The Drape opens from the right to the left. At the left side of the door is approximately 9" of wall then a 16" deep by 29" high dining counter. With the drape opened the gathered drapery extends about 7" beyond the edge of the glass. As they began installing the
actual glass door panels I noted that they were installing the Fixed panel to the right and brought it to their intention. The installers double checked with their office and were advised that that was the way the door had been ordered and manufactured. This is entirely unsatisfactory as
follows: 1. The gathered drapery thus obstructs almost half of the open doorway, This will result in undue wear and/or damage to the drape. 2. The useable unobstructed doorway is reduced to 13". 3. With chairs or stools at this counter the door pathway would be further obstructed. 4.
The door opening from this side will result in cold air passing over the backs of anyone seated at the counter, and other air or wind passing across the counter and kitchen cooking surface. Even if the drapery rod could be reversed it would not resolve issues 2-4. Reviewing the original
drawing that Penguin submitted to Des Moines, which did not come available to our attention until March 26, shows that the representative from Penguin had perpetuated this error. The door will have to be replaced with one opening the correct direction.
We have refused to sign off on the final work until the sliding door is replaced and the final price renegotiated as we are not getting what was originally agreed to. The product and workmanship looks good but what was originally contracted at a particular price versus what we finally received was not what we expected nor was is ever properly explained as to what we could expect.
I have just today reviewed their website and they continue to claim a 40% + savings in heating. (It appears to be in violation of the March Consent decree. In addition, nowhere in their advertising is any type of disclaimer that product as advertised may not be acceptable in some areas, such as the City of Des Moines.

I can't stand these guys! Penguin Windows personnell is so unprofessional. All except the one gal I spoke with over the phone the other day, she was very kind and understanding of my irritation.
Harrasment
Penguin Windows comes by my house monthly and wants me to buy their windows. I have a no soliciting sign clearly place by my front door. I have seen their employees messing with our mailboxes, I have asked them to stay away from my house. I have called their Vice President and requested them to stay away. This does not seem to matter. At this point, I have slammed the door in their employees faces and under no circumstances would I ever buy any of their products. They have harassed me for long enough. I would tell all prospective buyers to buy else where. This company needs to be put out of business since they obviously do not get it.

They are totally bothersome.. I also have a no soliciting sign in my window (clearly visable) which they choose to ignore. If this is how they get people to buy they are seriously messed up. I would consider it more like harrasement, I would also have boards on my windows before using this company.
I totally agree! I live in Vancouver, WA and just experienced the oblivious to my polite decline, press the hard sales pitch, attempt to insult my intelligence approach, and a turn around and walk away without so much as a thank you for my time or even a good-bye approach! Does this approach EVER work? I didn't know much about Penguin windows before this and now I don't ever care to! Horrible approach and attempt!

Total ripoff cancel your appt right now n call champion or a local general for a real bid!
There is no way to profit on any home improvement.
Houses in Tacoma are selling at 30% less than before
And the gullable design consultant in a cheap suit is telling me in a 4 hour presentation I will profit up to 120% on 35, 000 in windows?
How? A typical 10, 000 job with argon properly installed double is 25k less, ok is a buyer of my house really going to pay 25k plus 5k profit for the seller?
Hell no, notice no guarentee on any of these lies
ok still want to get ripped off?
Typical installation is 100-200 per opening, if the product is so much better why do they subsitute thier own double windows for triple windows on large sizes? Because there is no difference in the heat loss !
It's fraud any way you break down the lies
The 10% commission the cheap suit kid is closing you on is only paid if he sells you at 80 or 90% of contract price, that covers the overmeasure and the district managers commission is also available as the cheapsuit at the office at 11pm is giving another 10% away
So now we are at 70% of contract price right?
35, 0000 minus 11, 000 is 24, 000 so if I simply agreed at the beginning I would be overpaying 30%!
But actually this is still more than double the fair cost of similisr efficientcy
The real scam here is thermal inspection of current windows there is no training certificate from the salespitch of assumptions, ok 250 inspection without a infared reading, the hot button as he called it he is closing me on is safety last but not least,
this terribly educated poor soul and the terribly trained managers ate trying to lie to me that all windows with exterior glazing strips can simply be removed and be in my house in 60/90 seconds, that's simply a lie, hello glass can only be removed from the inside, n why the he'll wouldn't they just kick in the door,
well if u fall for this scam at least get 35-45 off the contract price if you are this gullible, and after they do critical measurement ask for the difference back at $20 ui and they will accept a minimum deposit of $200, so you can verify the overage they are sure to rip u off,
statewide penguin windows is poor in quality, sales, training, Service, reputation, timely delivery, cheap plastic interior linings, do yourself a favor and only pay 6-15k for your whole house n give a donation to someone who really needs help, nit a pathetic cheapsuit operation like this
if they are so great why don't the salespeople have these windows?
Overmeasuring the windows by 2 inches vertically n horizontically is pure fraud
Horrible company
I was almost one of their victims and have just heard of 3 more people with the same story! It's time to save another unsuspecting soul from losing precious dollars to this company.
Remember this! We DON'T live in Antarctica. We DON'T need triple pained windows!
At a Home Show I entered their fancy booth and fell for their 'chance to win' scam. Their prompt call to come out for a free estimate, became a 3+ hour high pressure nightmare, similar to a car sales experience. $38, 000 for the entire home, (my jaw dropped) down to 21, 000 for the front facing windows if I signed NOW and agreed to place their sign on my lawn. To get rid of them I signed specifically knowing I had 72 hours to resind.
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: My daily calls to cancel were ignored with every excuse until my last angry call informed them that my post marked, express, signature required, formal cancellation letter was in the mail.
My additional estimates for 11 windows in my house were cut by 2/3's, which included a lovely garden window, and additional construction to add a window to a very dark area in my house.
I bought from a small, Portland based company and the final price was $6926.36!
Google the companies and look for personal blogs, check out Angies List, Hinesight, FraudOregon.com. Shop prices, don't sign on the spot, and you will be shocked at amount you will save!

We had Penguin Windows installed in our home a year and a half ago. Friday before Mother's Day, I discovered a separation 2 and a half feet long and one eights inches wide between the window and the sill of the front 90" long window. There is a strong smell of mildew which leads me to believe we have water damage and that it's been happening awhile. When my husband attempted to call them today (Monday), he got only an answering machine more than once. I've since discovered the same damage in another window. In reading other complaints I am sick at heart to think this may be an issue that will cost us a great deal to repair. The salesman claimed at the time there was no "small print" and that their windows - and the installation - were guaranteed for life. After careful reading, I discovered the installation is guaranteed for 30 days only. We have already failed to receive compensation for NOT saving AT LEAST 40% because we did not read the fine print that states the claim must be sent within 30 days of the year ending the date of installation. We barely saved 15% and did not send in the documentation on time. After spending over $20, 000 on these windows I can't even sleep at night thinking of the damage to my house that has already occured. It does not appear from the "Guarantee" that Penguin will do anything. Failing to answer their customer service phone isn't a good indicator. It is early days and I'm hoping and praying I'm wrong. My advice to ANYONE would be to NOT sign a thing until you talk it over with a legal representative!
We first found Statewide / Now PENGUIN windows at a home show back in early 2005 for an older home ( over 100 years ! ) When we had the first set of 5 windows done everything was exceptional ; The attention to detail before we even signed a thing, the quality of the measurement and installation process and finallly the financing. When we were ready to purchase another set of 5 windows we saw a difference in the measurement process which took extra time in getting the windows done (but again it's an older home so nothing is "square" in this house ), still a good finished job. We noticed the name change in the company and so when we thought we might be ready to order a third time, the online reviews have made us extremely weary. After the latest ice / snow storm has taken a chunk out of the outside framework on one of the first windows done a lot of our opinion will ride on whether they will honor the " STATEWIDE " contract or if we will have to contact a lawyer to see any replacement work done.
This is an employee whom knows all about the window they are selling. Don't be taken! You can buy a very well known window for a third or less than what Penguins is selling.
worked for penguin for many years as installer. I saw more corruption here than anywhere else in my life. The bottom line at penguin is money. Of course, they're not the only ones, but its pretty bad. Management cares nothing for worker morale, safety, benifits or problems. I have seen so many laws broken at penguin its sad. And whats really crazy is that they don't seem to care that they break the law. As an installer I have seen many OSHA violations, as well as building code violations. Management will tell lead installers to ignore rot, mismeasured windows, misordered windows and all sorts of unethical business tactics. If you can cover it up, do it. I once witnessed an elderly couple get ripped off for an extra 1500 dollars in sales tax. It stated on their contract that penguin would pay the sales tax (1500 dollars worth and probably an extra incentive to get them to buy) but the sale rep had come back later and got them to sign a new contract, one that left out the part about penguin paying the sales tax. So when the work was all done, and it came down to paperwork, they were unhappy that the total price was more than they were told it would be. They showed us their copy which had the addendum stating that penguin would pay the tax. But of course our copy had no such thing. The lady was in tears and we left the jobsite feeling like crap. When we told the head manager about it he said "well, thats business for you". This is just one example of the hundreds of stories from MANY installers that show Penguins contempt. So far all the stories I've read on here have been pretty accurate. Except for one posting that sounds like a corporate rep or sales rep defending the product and company. You wanna know who else offers triple pane window with krypton and all the goods "GREAT LAKES WINDOWS". That is the manufacturer of the windows penguin installs and for some reason ($$$$$$$) they put penguins name on the locks. Do not be fooled, when a sales rep shows up at your door, check for the wolf fur poking out the sheeps clothing. He is selling great lakes windows. penguin is not your only option. And if your house already has vinyl windows in it, YOU DON'T NEED NEW WINDOWS. Especially not from penguin. These are crooked, corrupt, greedy people with unstoppable avarice. There are few good employees at this company. They're there, but rare. So remember, from someone who saw it with his own eyes in so many situations, buy somewhere else.
I worked for Penguin Windows as a sales rep. What an embarrassing job! We were yelled at by the "manager on duty" when we didn't pressure folks into buying windows. As terrible as I feel about it, I sold 22K worth of windows (in penguin pricing, probley 8k worth anywhere else) to an old lady who was on a fixed income.
When the sales rep comes into your home they start with the script they call "the agenda". Every employee is required to memorize it word-for-word when in the first week of training. You'll notice it when they start with "So, did the person who set up the appointment over the phone explain what we'll be covering during your visit today? " (you say no, not really)..."well, here in about 2 minutes Ill have you quickly walk the house with me to do an energy inspection on your windows.."

Below is what they should put on craigslist because it's the truth.
Penguin Windows is HIRING! - Looking for agressive people who can sell windows and set appointments. We don't care if you smoke weed, snort cocain, do heroin, or drink on the job as long as you don't get caught. We don't care if you don't sell because we don't need to pay you for it. Fact is, we just charge you $375 for your equipment when you get hired. So we are all around covered!
We hire as much people as we fire which is about 10 salesman every two weeks, 12 cavassers every single week. We don't care who you are, we may fire you for fun =) We can always get away with it because we have you sign all these contracts before you get hired that covers are butt. Unless a undercover agency comes in one day and write a full report about the company and file a national complaint which may cause us to change our name again. Origianally was Statewide INC now Penguin Windows.
Please call us if you want to get hired on the spot, once again...Don't worry, we don't do background checks. We only verbally ask you have you been convicted of a felony in the last 7 years and so far, everybody lies and said no. Funny is we have people that has criminal records working for us right now! But shhhh, don't tell nobody!
if anyone thinks the penguin window is a rip off I was sold on these features alone, consider this friends...
What other window company uses triple pane with 98% krypton, quad layered soft Low-E coating giving an R-value of 10 in glass to a beefy frame using 5-6 times more titanium oxide in the 100% newly composited vinyl frame weighing 2-3 times more than any other competitors frame and insulated with special r-23 insulation and fiberglass reinforcement I-beams?
Also an installation crew with all AAMA certification, every crew paid by the hour to maintain consistent quality, double checked by foremen. In installation they take out your rotted wood from your crappy windows and replace those parts of your wall that have rotted away with fresh wood free of charge, then use the most expensive caulking and silicone to seal your windows.
How else does a company guarantee lifetime transferable warranty against accidental and intentional damage/breakage from glass packs, leakage, frame, everything, without running themselves out of business? Quality that's in their best interest? What do you think? Do you think that they'd do everything in their power to have the strongest float glass in the industry, and the most impeccable frame in the industry as to avoid excessive warranty claims? This company has flourished for 26 years and growth has multiplied. Folks, when do you ever see any company scam their way through 26 years?
How else does a company guarantee 40% minimum energy savings and pay the difference without literally throwing money away?
If you realize that Penguin is not a business set up to fail, you'll see why all these posters are unfortunately misinformed, or working as industry saboteurs.
Companies like Milgard and champion are the ones scamming innocent homeowners. An easy example we look at window composition process. Chalk is used to color Vinyl. Its cheap, but brittle. Companies like Milgard dump vinyl into their mixes and create a very cheap product, and you'll notice the random breakages you see after 8-10 years. These reps take a heat lamp and tell folks during presentation that their Low-E double panes are just as good as Penguin's quad soft coat Low-E triple pane by using a lamp and a BTU meter. Results come out the same and they say the Penguin is overpriced and a huge ripoff. What those reps scam you about is that Low E shows reflectivity of light, not the transference of heat, which is why your energy bills are high. The penguin window uses roughly 3 times the weight in vinyl, and this is 100% virgin vinyl (virgin vinyl is made of little interweaving fibers), not 40-60$ ground up recycled vinyl, and this vinyl is a sunlight proof acryllic hardened vinyl, giving it long lasting structural integrity.
What's a bigger ripoff, investing twice as much for a product that lasts 50+ years 100% fully warrantied and giving you full equity waiting for the day you move places, or replacing your 8-10 year window 5 times and having a warranty says lifetime, but covers nothing, not even wear and tear from normal use.
You folks are the jury.
Triple-pane windows are useful for noise abatement as well as reduced heat transfer. I want one for my bedroom (but not enough to deal with Penguin). Thanks for helping me "dodge a bullet".
