Motor Trades.co.uk reviews and complaints
General
10/02/2012] Steven Alvers: I have been looking at this company more closely. For the unsuspecting they have a sneaky auto renewal clause in the small print to which they attach strict time limits for you to "opt out".For those who have better things to do or can't be bothered reading it, its another trap, "legal clause", to get money out of you.Yell.com don't carry on like this and invite you to renew your ads.
They claim its for your convenience, but its for theirs, as they know many people will not read the small print. They liken the auto renewal system to house or car insurance which is quite pathetic as the former are generally legal requirements
and this is not.Sleazy legal people have drafted this so be careful.
Your business will generally be found on google headers and yell.com as they generally appear above motor trades.co.uk.Also google and yell.com are household names unlike motor trades.co.uk, so motor trades.co.uk are really quite superfluous.Steven Alvers.

They phoned me out the blue on the 11/08/10 saying exactly the same, boost calls ect ect... So i thought as any business does... Yeah why not.. Will cost me 0.77p Per day( So hardly a fortune)...
The next day they phoned me offering me a premier package...and before i had time to think, they had debited my credit card again...
Now here is the best, Between the 11/08/10 to 24/08/10, They have taken a total of £665 out of my account... ( Bearing in mind that this is only meant to be £30 per month)
I have phoned them now 12 times since 11pm today, got through once, and they said they would phone me back within 24 hours...No surprises there.
What is more interesting, is that every time i call, i seem to be able to hear the same back ground noise as when they phoned me previously..( Sounds like lots of people talking, however, if you listen really closely, you will hear words been repeated every few minutes... Is this a recorded back ground noise..Unsure yet will make a recording when someone phoned me.
MY ADVICE TO ANYONE WHO WORKS WITHIN A MOTOR TRADE IS DON'T BOTHER WITH MOTOR-TRADES.CO.UK. I have not had 1 telephone call from anyone who found my advert on motor trades, Not 1 Email off anyone who found me on motor trades.
To end this rant my advice is DONT TRUST, THEY RIP YOU OFF, AND TAKE MONEY OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION, I HAVE HAD TO CANCEL MY CREDIT CARD DUE TO ALL OF THIS, SO THEY CANT TAKE ANY MORE MONEY OUT... I WILL POST ON HERE WITH REPLIES I GET!

i to have had big problems with this company, the called me it would be about 2 years ago and you would not believe the way the operate, as you said they bully you, wellk we came to an agreement and i started to pay with my card, in three months they took £3000.00 pounds i sent email called them to no response.i have been paying now for 2 years, o gess what 4 phone calls in 2 years, they are crooks, dont deal with them i havestopd the last 3 payments now they can take me to court, why do thegovernmentt let thease bandits operatee,
Motor trades are tricksters. They have an auto renewal clause in their contract which they liken to yell.com and BT.However I am a yell customer and yell do not have an auto renewal clause at all.If the yell rep does not renew the contract towards its end, the advertisements simply lapse.I have spoken to many people within yell. They are just full of it.Steven Drake
Using this company and their services was the worst days work i have done and a complete waste of money
I too signed up with this company after they gave me a phone call out of the blue. They eventually convinced to take out advertising with them claiming that they would boost my call volume and therefore my business, promised me thousands of extras calls a month etc. Different staff phoned within days changing the contract as I thought but then said I had agreed to three seperate contracts! I can count the number of extra phone calls i have recieved on one finger!
This aside the main problem i have had with them is there complete lack of customer service and attention to detail, I have had money taken from my credit card that was not authorised, endless phones call & emails etc. It took ages to rectify the problems. I agreed to one contract in the end.
What a complete and utter joke of a company. Using this company and their services was the worst days work i have done and a complete waste of money. Poor service and non existent customer services.

This is the fellow, it wouldn't let me attach the image, so uploaded to post image.
Well, I wonder who this fellow is!
The people who run these telemarketing company's from Essex are a joke it's the same crap time and time again . It's amazing that Essex trading standards have not put a stop to it . Steve jakes is another name that crops up time and time again as well . 5 mins research on google into ufindalocal will give you pretty much all the info you need on how they run these operations . Incidently ufindalocal was the one I got cold called by in 2012, I had my own website and had linked it with google business directory witch is obviously how they got my number . This guy rings me up saying he has all these bathroom jobs in my area and needs local traders like myself to do the work . Ok I'm interested, we then have about a 20 min conversation about what I do and my business and I pretty much give him the whole company history thinking that I need to sell myself to this guy if I'm gonna get all this work falling out his backside . Then about 35 mins into the call ( we're all pally now ) the conversation seamlessly move toward me signing up with them, only now do I get the name of the company Ufindalocal wich I have to ask for 3 time beffore he says it clearly enough. Next thing I know I'm on the phone to his colleague being recorded for 5 mins to what I thought was just to clarify the deal we had been talking about for me to think over the weekend . Thank god For sites like this i googled these scammers that night before they had my card details, and I deleted the e contract they sent me without opening it . I also sent away the recorder delivery the sent by post without signing for it. A month of non stop sales calls followed ( up to 30 calls a day sometimes) it was relentless and bullying . When they finally got the message that I wanted no part of thier crummy website for idiots it turned nasty, I got a call from some manager or other trying to hold me to the original agreement and saying I owed them 600 quid and that they have a recording of me agreeing to this and they would take me to court . I laughed into the phone and told him to F off because I was we'll aware that wasn't enough to hold me to deal as they needed to have tricked me into signing the e contract as well . I have since registered my numbers with the TPS online ( very important if your have phone numbers out there on the Internet be it your website or even and advert in gum tree ) . I rarely get cold calls now and on the odd occasion I do the end pretty fast when is mention TPS . The funniest thing was they made this website of theirs sound so fantastic that I couldn't believe how rubbish it was when I checked it out online . It was very confusing, not at all user friiendly and looked like a 5 year old had designed it . It was obviously just cobbled together quickly and they had even set up a Facebook business page that was also just for show because it had only had just enough likes about 30 I think and there was a couple of posts about 2 years old from when they set it up and that was it . I knew no one was bothering with it because if they had bothered to maintain a face book presence they would have seen all the complaints customers were posting on thier wall lol . After 2 or 3 years when trading standards catches up with them the money disappears they liquidate the company and the staff don't get paid . As its a ltd company the directors can't be made to pay the debts and its on to the next scam . Search media I think is one of the latest ones . Steer clear
PD has identified another believed sales manager, . driving an Black/grey AUDI S5 registration GF12 DHX.
He has also identified a possible 3rd manager who is driving a E-class silver mercedes with private plate.
PD has identified another manager at MotorTrade, and has been seen driving a Black / Grey AUDI S5, registration GF12 DHX
Also in the vicinity was a silver mercedes E-class, again believed to be another sales manager, registration.
PD says that there is no evidence yet linking CORBY with this company.
He also said that the guy believe to be one of the managers is still hanging round there, although the boss-man hasn't shown for a few days.
He's still on the case, but has asked me not to post any pictures till his work is done, he has lots - he wants to confirm that the pictures are of MOTORTRADE employees before they go public.
Snitch
Get your PD to check this man out :- The one and only DAN CORBY.

This company is complete and utter ###, they tried it on with me and my business but I told them where to poke it, still wiaiting for the court summons to appear for the so called fees I owe them.
So I thought I would do a little research, they are based in Brentwood, Floor 3, Reigent House, Hubert Road, Brentwood - CM14 4JE
I've got a private detective on these guys and will disclose as much information as I can find about them
So far, and he's only been on them for a day. One of the believed managers is driving a BMW X5 X-DRIVE 4.0d registration YF13 PXU.
He's promised me pictures of the gent, will share these when they arrive.
Dear Mr Harper
We are sorry to learn of your complaint. Please contact Operations on [protected] asking for Extension 706 and a member of the team will be happy to help you.
Regards, Operations
Somehow this worked for me
I am very disappointed in the way you have dealt with my complaint with regards to the way I was tricked into opening two policies. After googleing motortrades I'm not suprised to see you have a huge amount of disgruntled customers.
I have asked my bank and visa disputes not to allow you to take any further payments from my account. I will pay my balance monthly via check to reach you by the 1st of the month x3.
If my policies are cancelled and all money i paid refunded I will not carry out the following.
I will be sending a email on Thursday to the office of fair trading, trading standards google and other search engines explaining the way I was tricked and how you trick other customers with your auto renewal policies and other small print scams.
Then on Friday I will email customers who advertise on your website warning them of your auto renewal scam and other small print urging them to end their policy and to forward the email to anyone else in the trade. I will send 1 generic email to a min of 10 recipients per day until i am sure i have cost you £1000's.
This is not the way i like to do things as i have better things to do with my time, i therefore hope i am refunded, i don't do getting ripped off.
Dear Mr Alvers
Thank-you for your posting of 10 February 2012; it is not clear if you are an advertiser with Motortrades – if you are, please contact us directly, and we will resolve any customer service issue that you may have.
You can contact us directly on [protected] asking for Operations on extension 7803 or by email to optout@motortrades.co.uk
We have a genuinely decent Customer Services team that do their best to fully resolve any complaints within 2 business days.
We currently have around 330, 000 active listings on-line with us, and with this level of listings, it’s inevitable that some complaints will arise from time to time.
Moving back to your posting, we don’t accept that Automatic Renewal is “sneaky”;
Automatic Renewal is used by many businesses in the directories field now, including the UK Market Leaders, Yell.com and BT with their Customer Street and uFindus.com Brands.
Indeed, as many of our Services include telephone number packages, call routing and web services / domains as part of a “bundle” Automatic Renewal and no risk of interruption to services is highly valued by our Customers.
Whilst there is no legal obligation for us to remind advertisers that their agreement remains in Automatic Renewal, we do issue monthly reminders to all advertisers and many thousands of customers choose to opt out of the Automatic Renewal programme following receipt of the reminders. Customers that don’t opt out remain within the programme and are then called by our Renewals Team to agree ant future renewal by telephone.
Earlier in our posting we made reference to both Yell.com and BT Directories using Automatic Renewal within their agreements. For reference purposes, this can be evidenced at the following links.
