I found https://myskilessons.com while searching for ski and snowboard instructors for my trip to Japan on Feb 17–18, 2026. The site claimed to arrange instructors worldwide.
I was directed to book a call via calendly. I was contacted by email and pushed to continue on a WhatsApp call with the agent Micko G. He told me limited instructors were available and pressured me to pay immediately by clicking a payment link to secure the coaches.
Due to limited availability of coaches in Japan during peak season, I agreed to pay a 50% deposit on the phone on Jan 27 and the remaining balance on Feb 5. Total paid: USD 1,797 (USD 599 per class × 3 class [Feb 17 full day ski; Feb 18 full day ski and full day snowboard).
After full payment, communication became inconsistent. Micko almost didn’t message and passed on to a customer service called Stanley who wouldn’t reply emails in 3 days. I forced him to go on WhatsApp. Still, responses were sporadic and by Feb 16, just one day before the first lesson, no coaches were confirmed.
Micko stopped responding completely since Feb 16.
On Feb 17, no instructor showed up. I requested a refund of USD 599 for the missed day but Stanley replied not until Feb 21, and promised to process a refund of USD500 after speaking to Micko. I questioned why USD500 not the full USD599 I paid for, Stanley then completely ghosted by Feb 22.
After I returned home from the trip, I filed complaints to FBI IC3, Better Business Bureau, Mastercard, and posted on social media warning people not to fall victim.
I continued to pursue on the customer service account of Lesson Pro/Myskilesson, which passed on the case to another agent called Andre and manager called Mel. I bet these are all fake names and fraudsters. They pretended to try to call me but my phone never rang and never received their messages.
When Better Business Bureau pursued my case, their contradictory and deceitful reply was they completed the lesson or I could use the missed lesson as future credit.
I am still pursuing them by all means and will not settle until they refund the USD599.
Also, I discovered that the ultimate owner of this scam group is named Robert Dunfey, who owns myskilessons and Hello Lessons, which is the name of the email account that sent me invoices. Dunfey's companies had received nurmerous complaints on this Complaints Board before. It is worth investigating whether he is the ultimate culprit managing this scam group.
