On April 23rd,2026 the gas was shutoff at my 83yr old widowed mothers home without her permission( She has mobility issues). It was 7 Deg Celsius that day as well as the next day with no furnace working. She received a letter to make an appointment five days earlier . I called the number and was on hold for over a half hour, I could no longer wait so hung up with the intension of calling back later. The next day the house was extremely cold. The caregiver saw the note that was found outside the door . The number was called and an appointment was made to restore gas between 1-5pm that day. After several phone calls to Enbridge and Lakeside a technician finally showed up at 7:30pm,( It was 10 Deg in the house). Why was a phone call not made when the first Tech was there so they could access the house. As far as the Tech knocking at the door , she can not hear very well and she would not answer the door unless she was expecting someone. With all the crime happening in the GTA she has been instructed to not open the door unless she knows who it is.
- Why was there no phone call made to her before hand ?
- Why are you shutting off gas when its 7 Deg Celsius ?
- Why didn't they show up Between 1-5pm as told ?
Claimed loss: WE are considering legal action in this matter.
Desired outcome: - Free Gas for 1 Year- Call before you shutdown the gas at residences.- Do not shut off gas to Seniors unless they are aware of it .
