I woke up to a notification today that my credit score had dropped 10 points due to a decrease in credit limit. After checking my accounts, I found CareCredit had reduced my limit by $5000 leaving me only $68 under my limit. I had purposely stayed under 30% utilization like everyone says to and now I have an account reporting 98% utilization and killing my overall utilization numbers just because CareCredit felt like it! No missed payments, paying a little of the minimum each month, and no zero-interest promotional purchases. Screw you CareCredit!
Recommendation: Avoid like the plague!
That's so unfair — you did everything right, kept your utilization low, made payments, and they just yanked the rug out. I'm so sorry. I'd suggest calling them and politely but firmly asking for a reinstatement; sometimes a human can override the algorithm. If not, a complaint to the CFPB is worth it. You've got this.
