Burlington Coat Factory Direct never again!

I went into Burlington Coat Factory to put some toys for my son on layaway for Christmas. I gave a CASH down payment to the clerk at the time of my purchase. I came back a week later to pick up the items but the store employees were having difficulty finding my items. I stood at the customer service station for over an hour waiting for them to locate the toys..no luck. The store employees were not sympathetic at all...only occasionally acknowledging my presence and saying"they're still looking".

I got tired of waiting for my order so I asked for my money back. The clerk told me that I would have to wait to receive my money back in the form of a check in the mail since they would have to deem it a "Lost Layaway". She said that it should arrive in 7-10 business days.

After about 3 weeks of waiting I called the corporate office to check on the status but the woman said that I would have to wait until the check had been out for 30 days and if I still hadn't received it then I should call back and she would put a stop-payment on the check and issue another one.

It has now been a month since my layaway was lost and I have still not gotten my money back. I called the woman back today and she said that she would do the stop-payment and that my check should go out tomorrow. I asked her if I could have the check sent overnight or Certified Mail so that it would require a signature for delivery, but she simply said "NO". So, basically I have been waiting a month to get a refund on a transaction that was cancelled because thy were unable to locate my layaway and I could potentially wait another month if the check does not come this time.

I WILL NEVER SHOP AT BURLINGTON COAT FACTORY AGAIN!

I RETURNED TWO ARTICLES OF CLOTHING TO BURLINGTON'S AND WAS INFORMED BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN PAST THEIR DATE TO CREDIT MY CHARGE CARD FOR THE AMOUNT THEY WOULD ISSUE ME A STORE CREDIT. THIS WAS FINE...BUT THEN THE CREDIT THEY WERE GIVING WAY WAS BELOW THE AMOUNT I HAD PAID. WHEN I COMPLAINED THE CLERK SAID THAT WAS STORE POLICY...THE MERCHANDISE HAD ALL...

I was working at Burlington Coat Factory as a Loss Prevention Associate. My manager asked me to inform a lady who was in the store with an empty back pack that she had to leave the bag with customer service. Upon doing so the lady became irate, and went and complained to the same manager, who then denied knowing anything about the incident. The lady left...

Burlington Coat Factory Direct damaged diamond

Burlington sells damaged diamonds. I had an issue over a damaged diamond ring my husband purchased a few years ago, I kept it in a bank safe for years and took it to another jeweler to clean and sell and discovered the diamond was damaged. I wore the ring approximately three months and stored it because it never had the brilliance it should have so I stored in a bank safety deposit box and later decided to sell it. They will not take responsibility for the damaged diamond even though I have all the paper work and receipts management would not exchange or take it back. I can also prove the ring was stored by bank statements and a witness. I feel it was in a bezel setto disguise the flaw so that it was impossible to be seen in tiny opening in the bottom of the mounting.
Something told me to take the ring back after my husband told me where he purchased it but it was a gift and I felt bad to do that. I wore it about three months and decided to store it at the bank and decided to sell it since he assured me it didn't bother him.
I will never purchase another item at Burlington Stores again! I don't trust them and they have cost us a value of approximately $5, 000.00! Oh did I tell you it was 50% off! So we are out about $2700.00 with tax! Thanks, we really can't afford the loss, we were hoping to sell this for a better ring! Now my husband's hard earned money is down the drain and we will never trust another diamond! My advise, buy a fake! They are prettier anyway!

My Husband and I purchased a bridal set from Burlington aswell. It was on sale and we were able to purchase the set for $2200. The paperwork shows it is white gold with real diamonds...however... the gold has already started changing colors and the diamonds have turned yellow. I have only worn the set for 6 months and i have cleaned it multiple times with no luck of the yellow being removed from the diamonds. Some of the gold has turned a darker color and the underneath of the set has small green spots. Has EVEN TURNED MY FINGER COLORS! Any thoughts?

BURLINGTON DOES NOT SELL DIAMONDS. THIS PURCHASE MUST HAVE BEEN FROM ONE OF THE ULTRA JEWELRY OUTLETS THAT ARE LOCATED IN A FEW OF THE BURLINGTON STORES. THE COMPLAINT IS NOT WITH BURLINGTON BUT WITH THE ULTRA DIAMOND STORES THAT ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH BURLINGTON COAT FACTORY, THEY ONLY LEASE SPACE INSIDE OF THE STORES.

I went to Burlington Coat Factoryto purchase a Ski Jacket. Several of the Columbia 3 in 1 interchange jackets they had did not come with anything more than the outer shell yet they were priced the same as the few jackets that came as a complete set. I recently went o a Burlington Coat Factory, and wanted to purchase these jeans. The store had these jeans on the clearance rack with a tag on them for twenty dollar. When i got to the register the cashier told me that this is the wrong price. This wansn't a tag that could have been easily taken off and put back on, they had tags that you would have to tear off and switch, which I know for a fact could not be done. But inspite of all that she still thought that I was trying to switch tags, which they found out was not the case, one of their employees had tagged it wrong. They looked it up, but I was the last pair in the store, so they did a little more digging and found out that the actual price was a lot more. I was very disappointed, byt the way the cashier treated me, likle i was a theif. It was also poor customer service to me, see as they should have let me purchase the jeans at that price, because it was their fault not mine that the price was wrong. If you go to other stores, if they have something marked wrong, and they know that it's wrong, they would let you have it at that price. Not this Burlington, they don't care abou their customers, and I hope it closes. Without the customers and their money, they would have no business. If I wanted to steal soemhing, i wouldn't want it from there, because they don' have a large selection, and most of the clohes that they do have on sale are no brand name, and don' thave qualtiy materials. Put it like this I would steal some clothes from Walmart, before i steal from them, an I don't think i'll will ever shop at this store again located at 95 th and Hilcrest, in Kansas City Missouri. I've spent money theri several ime, but not anymore.

Burlington Coat Factory Direct unfair return policy!

My wife and I purchased a ceramic bowl a few weeks ago. We notived that it began sloughing off it's color and figured it was defective. I tried to return it to Burlington and was told I would get a gift card because the item had no price tag. I had a receipt. I took off the price tag figuring we would be keeping the item. I had to accept the gift card for the return or keep a defective item. I took the card. Your policy on returns is unfair for those items that turn out to be defective. You need to have a different policy on items that turn out to be defective. This was a one of a kind item so exchange was not an option.

I had a very bad experience at Burlington Coat Factory (Greensboro) for return. I was treated with no respect. The lady in customer service and the Manager both treated me very disrespectful way.

I bought a boaster car seat from Burlington Coat Factory. Since this was my 1st time purchase in Burlington Coat Factory, at cashier I asked her the return policy. She told me that I can return it for a full credit

- If I don’t use it
- have original packing
- The receipt
- And returning in 30 days of purchase

The booster car seat I bought didn’t work well for my kid. It looked like may be after a year he will be ready for a booster car seat so, I decided to return it. I went to Burlington Coat Factory (Greensboro) to return the car seat. The car seat was new still in plastic, in box and I had my receipt and I was returning with in 30 day period. But still she refused to refund my money back. Saying why did I opened the box and they don’t take it back if the box is open. I don’t understand if you don’t open the box and looked at the seat how you will know that it will work for your kid or not. She refused to take it back and told me that they don’t accept any return on Bady items that include high chair, car seat... and its Burlington Coat Factory policy. I asked her to show me the policy in writing. No were they have that policy in writing. I was really upset because when I asked them about the return policy they didn’t tell me about this new policy of no return if box is open. Definitely I would have not bought that booster car seat if I would have known about this policy. The way customer service lady and Manager were treating me I felt so bad as if I got this item for free and I am trying to make money on it now. They were like making faces and talking very rudely. I will never buy anything from Burlington Coat Factory never in my life. It seems like their Customer Service and Manager makes store policies depending upon situation. Will never never never…. Shop in Burlington Coat Factory in my life.

Burlington Coat Factory Direct no cash refund

Recently, I fell victim to what I now realize it is a very common scam. The Burlington Coat Factory No Cash Refund. I think the public would benefit from knowing how this operates and avoid my folly. I assure you that I am not the only victim of this scam and suggest that for further accounts visit the website www.ComplaintsBoard.com or for an achieve of these testimonials try:

When you walk into Burlington Coat factory 14 feet above your head is a sign that reads, "No cash refunds." However, rarely when I walk into any place do I ever pay attention to the ceiling let alone what is directly above my head. On September 5th, 2004, I went to Burlington Coat Factory to by to tuxedo shirts, a bow-tie, and a pair of pants. The selection of pants and shirts was very limited but I managed to find a pair of reasonably priced pants and two tuxedo shirts that appeared to be my size. However, it is store policy that shirts cannot be removed from a bag to be tried on. So I bought the only two large shirts available, a bow-tie, and the pants.

When I got home I tried on the shirts and found that they had far too short of sleeves to accommodate my arms. The pants, I noticed, had a small hole in them which had been covered by the security tag.

The next day (not even 24 hours later) I attempted to return the pants and shirts. I saved the tags and the receipt and having working in a retail store myself assumed that I would be able to receive a cash refund. When I arrived I was made to wait until a manager would come and approve the return. After 20 minutes, a manager came and examined the clothes.

He then told the cashier to give me the refund. The cashier scanned all the items and handed me a shopping card. I told him I wanted cash back he pointed to the receipt where at the bottom it stated "no cash refund." I asked to speak with a manager who told me that company policy could not be violated but I was welcome to purchase other items in the store. I insisted that the policy was unfair and seemed a bit dishonest. He pointed to the sign that I had failed to read both times I was in the store and told me that they have done everything the law requires to inform costumers.

Again, this is a sign placed so poorly it didn't grab my attention and a statement that appears on the bottom of the receipt, something you receive after the transaction is complete...far to late to cancel the transaction.

The manager refused to let me speak with the General Manager and I noticed that I was now standing before a group that consisted of all the managers in the store. Feeling angry at the manager's rude behavior toward me and intimidated by the wall of glaring faces and folded arms I took my card and left.

The next day I called the company headquarters. I spoke with a costumer service representative who told me exactly what the manager told me. I asked to speak with her supervisor and was informed that there were not any supervisors. She offered to leave a message for a supervisor but I explained I would call back myself and that I was going to do everything in my power to get my refund. She quickly informed me that Burlington Coat Factory has a team of lawyers waiting to "take care of people like me."

Immediately called back and requested to speak to a manager. I was immediately connected to a manager. This manager when and spoke with the rep I had just gotten off the phone with. She told me that it was my fault, I would not be receiving a refund, and finally, that I needed to stop harassing the company because no one was interested in helping me. I told her that I thought “these policies were a bit dishonest” and at this moment she lost her temper and shouted at me. "No one has lied to you! No one is going to help you stop wasting our time." I asked how any of this was fair to the costumer and her response was, "The costumer isn't what matters.

This policy is good for our business and people like it that is why Burlington continues to grow. If you want help, contact the President of the Company he is the only person that could give you a refund." I told her I would contact him. I have also contacted the Better Business Bureau.

I want people to be informed about the poor costumer service and this legal but dishonest system so that they don't make the same mistake. I do, however, also fear the legal action that I was threatened with and in no way want to get entangled in a lawsuit with such a wealthy and dishonest company. Please do not release my name or any information that Burlington could link to me. I hope that you can help and I thank you for continuing to give a voice to the common man. We shouldn't be bullied or threatened by companies.

Burlington Coat Factory is a fraudulent company. I have shopped in their stores. This was my first online purchase. I must warn you, that shopping online with them will result in absolute fraud.
I was charged for my purchase within 2 hours, as it showed on my bank statement. When you make a purchase, the only way to get a tracking number (and therefore proof of your orders), is to create an account. The site tells you this, but never allows you to do so. I tried over a period of 7 days. The site will tell you that "we are unable to do this at this time and to try later."
I tried calling with the only number they give you to reach them on their site. It doesn't matter what time of day or day you try to reach them. No one will ever answer your call. I tried 15 times, M-F, from 8 am to 8pm. Each and every time, you get an automated response telling you that "we are experiencing higher call volumes than usual." I have waited over 40 mins. No will will ever speak to you nor tell you how long you have to wait on hold. You are never able to reach a real human. I have called their corporate office. I am never able to get anyone to speak to me, leave a message, or even answer an email.
I have cancelled the order. I have received no response. I contacted my bank to stop the charge. Burlington Coat Factory is a fraudulent company, period.

Burlington coat factory in cathedral city california is just about the dumbest place to shop. they have very poor customer service and their managers are the worst. they really dont care about their employees they have one for every department when they should have 3 for each.. one person has to carry the load in each department every day...employees get worked to hard and there never is a raise for all the work that is being put. i give every one that is stillworking there props because the managers there are so unfair with their own employees and even the customers.

I agree it is Burlington Coat Factory's uncaring and rude behavior towards their customers, one where a store manager can harrass customers for any unjustifiable reason at all, where store managers can be rude and uncaring towards their customers, where they will treat their customers and you the public like dirt!

To JDCanda,

Honestly, I have no idea what you are talking about, you must not shop in Canada very often. You get cash refunds at most if not all stores in Canada if you paid cash. If you paid by credit card, you get a credit refund on your credit card. The only time you get a voucher or store credit is at places like Walmart that accept returns without any receipt. If you have a receipt and you go to the store of purchase you'll get your money back. Any store (Walmart, Canadian Tire, Zellers, Sears, The Bay, Future Shop, Best Buy, Addition-Elle, Eddie Bauer, need I go on, will give you cash refunds if you have your receipt and if you paid cash for the items)

On Friday night, January 26, 2007, I purchased 12 items from the above store. On Sunday, I returned one damaged painting. Now, I had paid by check, which the cashier carefully told me would be treated just like a debit card with the funds being electronically transferred immediately and the check handed back to me. I checked online when I got home and indeed, the funds were removed from my account immediately. On Sunday when I returned the damaged painting and asked for a refund of $18.99 (yes, less than $20!) I was told it would take 2-3 weeks to get a check from corporate. 2-3 weeks, when they had my money immediately removed from my account. I was also told that I could have got an immediate refund if I had paid cash or by debit card. When I pointed out that they already had cleared my funds just like a debit card, the manager,, Jim Kied, threatened to have me removed from the store.

This morning I called corporate and was told there was nothing they could do, as this is the policy. I told her if they can immediately remove the funds from my account, I want BN's account number so I can immediately remove the money from their account. She told me to write to the investor group that bought the store and complain to them. Instead, I choose to let other consumers beware of this type of business practice. BN obviously does not care about repeat customers and is willing to lose a customer over a measly $18.99. Mr. Kied was abrupt and rude to both me and my husband. They obviously do not know what customer service is. When they go bankrupt I will laugh all the way to my bank. All this over $18.99. Sheesh.

I understand your frustration, but here in Canada 99% of the stores have a no-cash refund policy. I was shocked when my boyfriend, who lives in the states, told me I could return something I was unhappy with that I had bought in the states. And sure enough, when I brought the item in, there were hardly any questions asked, even though I had already removed the tags, and I received a cash refund. Whenever you return something here in Canada, you always get a store credit and that's only if the tags are still on. If you've taken them off, tough luck. So I understand your frustration but I say consider your self lucky that most other retailers will give you your cah back and use your gift card

I am very unhappy with the way your store policy of returns are. If that's the way your going to run things, train your employs to tell all customers that if you want to return an item, there will be a store credit issued. I purchased some draperies on Saturday, not 100% positive on the color, so I asked one of your employees if I had a problem can I return...
