Arrogant therapist with lack of competence and respect for others.
As a self-proclaimed reputable therapist, Roland failed to perform his professional duties as a licensed psychotherapist:
Administrative duties:
- Failing to ensure necessary paperwork was provided and/or properly done in a timely manner. Despite such negligence, he refused to take the responsibility and shifted the blame on me.
- Not providing a receipt for counseling sessions in a timely manner.
Therapy:
- Creating false records about me and lying about the contents of my therapy sessions.
- He did not logically walk me through how his therapeutic approach was going to help me. The best explanation he offered me was, "I know this sounds like a drug dealer. But you just gotta trust me. This thing works."
- Threatening to breach confidentiality and use my information against me in public.
Acting like legal counsel
- Attempting to provide legal advice on personal matters. What's more, he later criticized me for not having followed his unqualified, unsolicited advice.
Releasing records:
- Failing to comply with the laws related to a patient's right to obtain medical records, such as the HIPAA law.
- Harassing me for filing a complaint against him with the California Board of Psychology, including refusing to release my records, despite the Board's statement that "Everyone has the right to file a complaint without fear of harassment."
He also displayed a lack of respect for others:
Patients:
- He repeatedly discounted my own efforts at healing, even the ones that turned out to be successful, and demanded that I solely rely on him.
- Strangely, he called my exercising of rights to obtain my patient records a "hobby." Huh?
Other therapists:
- He talked down the efforts of my past psychotherapists by calling it "useless", even though I personally found their help valuable.
- He talked down other therapists as those who merely see their patients as "an object of symptoms or disorder, " even though not a single therapist I met or researched viewed his/her patients the way he said.
- He constantly tried to prove his superiority by comparing himself to other therapists, saying things like, "Other therapists don't do what I do."
- He disregarded the studies of the American Psychological Association, saying, "I don't trust those studies." This organization is endorsed by the California Board of Psychology.
As of 2021, this hypocrite's psychologist license has been revoked by the Board of Psychology. He's prohibited from practicing psychotherapy.
