The Ultimate Travel Companion App
Flighty is an excellent travel app that provides real-time updates and notifications, personalized recommendations based on travel history, and insights into flight prices. Its user-friendly interface allows for easy access to flight details, including departure and arrival times, gate information, and any delays or cancellations. The app's features also include wait times for security checkpoints in major airports, making planning more convenient. Whether you're a frequent flyer or an occasional traveler, Flighty is an essential tool for staying informed and having a stress-free travel experience.
Works Great But TripIt Sync is Misleading, Unprofessional Icons, Developer Doesn’t Respond
It’s doesn’t actually sync with TripIt. It will import the flight from TripIt, but if you change or cancel your flight that isn’t automatically updated in Flighty.
The plane icons are replaced with novelty icons for holidays (bats on Halloween, turkeys on Thanksgiving, sleighs on Christmas, etc). That’s fine for people who enjoy that kind of whimsy but it should be an option especially if you’re actually excluding holidays that people celebrate.
I’ve sent several emails for support and feedback without response or acknowledgment from the developer. Not a good sign for an app with an expensive subscription fee.
Multi device sync INOP
This review is as of 14 November 2019, for a paid/premium account.
Flaky, sadly. Doesn’t work for multiple devices when trying to activate the same email or whatever. Paid account. Signed in to same Apple ID. Restored purchases. Activated same email. Most things don’t propagate across phones and tablet (yes, triple-checked: same AppleID, and attempting to activate same forwarding email).
Here’s hoping they fix this serious sync issue. Let us make user accounts with Flightly, or at least make pairing an email with multiple devices usable... or something!
Aside from this, the UX and information are top-notch.
Works, even for the workers
I’m a ramp agent (those are the people who process the bags on your plane!) at Las Vegas International Airport, and throughout multiple contracts and companies I’ve worked with, this by far is the best and cleanest flight tracker that I’ve used for such. Now, I have always needed to mark all of the flights as Friends Flights (maybe there can be something for airport / ramp workers?) but it’s nothing entirely bad. It’s still the best tracker I’ve used and it’s one that I continue to use to this day all to keep me ahead in my work and to make me on-time with getting people’s bags and planes ready. Five stars, every day. Amazing app.
Nice but not worth high subscription cost
I’m a million-miler, 100K+/year flyer, so I’ll try any app related to travel, including the aviation nerd flight tracking apps. I’m just not seeing the incremental value of this app over the United Airlines app and a couple of free apps to justify the subscription cost. For an extra $1/month compared to Flightly, I subscribe to a service that gives me real-time access to flight availability on any airline plus almost all of the data provided on this app. If my travel wasn’t so heavily concentrated on United, maybe I’d see more value from having all of the information together in one place other than the airline app, but I do, so I don’t need it.
Didn’t work for me
I see so many great reviews and wonder why I , an ex CIO, could not get this to work well. It seems to have great promise yet o could not get it to accept my data well, nor did it help with my international flight either way. I used several other apps with success so I’m not ready to simply admit user ignorance
I will up my stars from one to three, however. The developers contacted me to see if they could determine the problem. That is very impressive While too much time has gone by for me to provide the necessary facts of what happened line by line and in what order, I trust that they are “on it” and want to and will make it an even better app
Not as good as it sounds
The idea of the app is awesome. The UI is very nice as well. But under the hood, there is a lot of room for improvement. Importing flights from the calendar doesn’t work properly. Calendar events with different time zones or flights that arrive the next day are simply ignored an don’t sho up in your flight list. The developer’s support team is not responsive at all. After I reported it first, they were treating me like it was my fold and that i cannot generate the calendar events in the right format. But after I analyzed the bug and explained to them, why it happened and when, they never responded. They took the money for a subscription and now, they don’t care anymore.
A Must Have for any Frequent Flyer!
I can’t say enough great things about this app. I am a travel addict and this is my most heavily used app.
So crisply designed. So much information. So much better than most airlines apps. I find out flight status before the airline tells me. So worth the $$.
Also super helpful when someone else is tracking your flight, or you need to track someone else’s. Also I love the inflight status…and the ability to see where I am during the flight….all while using the free messaging data some airlines are nice enough to give access to.
Plus it’s fun to see your annual lifetime stats. That’s the geek side of me with the ongoing eye rolls my family gives me when I rattle off my stats.
Looks Great But Bad Data Sourcing/Info
The app looks great so gave it a try for a week. Had 5 flights that week that I was tracking, and unfortunately the information was regularly wrong. Or got the aircraft type wrong on two flights, it said it was a type of plane that doesn’t have anywhere near the range for the flight. It regularly said there wasn’t enough flight data to make arrival forecasts. And it also has the incoming plane completely wrong for one flight, so I kept getting alerts about my incoming plane heading to Winnipeg and landing in Winnipeg, when I was flying out of Ottawa. Turned out the app had the wrong flight number for the incoming flight.
So looks great, but unfortunately simply doesn’t work as advertised.
Major disappointment
Visually stunning, and the real-time alerts are nice. However, I bought this for the calendar sync b/c TripIt calendar subscription wasn't working correctly. It worked correctly for a hot second. Since then, calendar sync has not worked. I did get it to sync to one of my iCloud calendars but only that one (not the one I wanted) and since I deleted that calendar now no calendars. Additionally, the dynamic import from TripIt doesn't work when a trip changes. I have to disable and re-enable TripIt connection to get it to register the change. At firsts, support was seemingly responsive, but despite several chasing emails they have gone radio silent. If you want any of the integrations, don't waste your money.
Recommend for USA/Western Europe only
I traveled to over 15 countries in December 2019 and January 2020. Unfortunately, Flighty Pro (Piaf version) didn’t help me much more than the airline app, Google, or even better, free direct texts from the airline. Specifically, there was little Flighty information when taking flights in the following cities: Belgrade, Bucharest, Kyiv (Kiev), Minsk, Istanbul, Chisinau, Québec City, and Montréal. Hong Kong and Taipei had up-to-date information, as if I were traveling in the US. ***Updates in Québec and Montréal with respect to gate and delay information was at least 15-30 minutes behind the texts I received from Air Canada and United.*** That being said, Flighty is on point for my domestic flights between Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Stay ahead of fellow passengers
The single best flight tracking app ever
Flighty’s fast data updates and push alerts got home home 14 hours before I was supposed to.
For a Delta SFO-DTW-DCA red eye flight I got a Flighty notification that my flight was delayed 10 hours. I got the Flighty notification and immediately went to speak to the gate agent to get rebooked. A fellow passenger was right behind me because he also got the Flighty notification. We both were able to get rebooked on a different overnight flight immediately.
70 seconds after we got the Flighty notification everyone else got the official Delta notification and a gigantic line formed. Flighty’s incredible speed saved me from spending a night at the airport or waiting in line for an hour to see if I could change my flight.
Has what others don't
My partner and I were flying this week. He was using the airline's app and I used Flighty. Every time I got a notification from Flighty, he said "how come my app doesn't do that?"
We particularly liked knowing when the airplane we were supposed to leave on had already arrived, the on time stats for each flight, and knowing that we would (well, that I would) receive a text notification if our gate changed (almost missed a flight once before without that info).
It was also cool to watch our flight in real-time in the app. Somehow it worked with just the minimal WiFi the airline provides without paying. The airline's flight tracker wasn't working, but Flighty was.
Thanks for all the information I needed to feel comfortable that I knew what I needed to for a great flight.
Held back from purchasing just yet
I’ve been using App in the Air for the past few years and have been loving it as it syncs and works seamlessly between my APPLE WATCH and iPad.
Recently discovered Flighty and have been playing around with the app but have been frustrated with so many features locked behind a paywall that is not the case with App in the Air.
Although I would love to purchase the full premium version of Flighty - the NO APPLE WATCH support is really holding me back. Also a really neat feature that AITA has is that they incorporate the airline livery on the aircraft that you are booked with as well as have the option to book flights and hotels through their app.
Once Flighty has full Apple Watch support I can’t see myself switching over just yet even though the UI seems much better put together.
Flight Geeks, This App’s for You!
Every time this app is upgraded, it only gets better! The live activities showing position on the runway and time to taxi are amazing. Add in a world map with my lifetime flying history (and stats), and I am in heaven. I appreciate knowing when the aircraft changes and notice far ahead of my airline as to relevant changes.
To the developers, three requests:
Please allow notification types to be customized. Getting a ding late at night for a tail number change is a little much. I would like to mute that or make it not appear with time sensitive messages.
Allow bulk import (perhaps CSV) of past flight history.
Improve the TripIt integration so that removing a flight there also causes it to disappear in Flighty, rather than manually having to remove it separately.
Otherwise, outstanding app!
Beautiful interface but flight into is often wrong or not updated
Downloaded the app and used it on a few international flights.
The first one from JFK to Cairo, Flighty showed arrival time as 3 hours delayed even before the flight took off, but the departure time was unchanged. The flight ended up taking off about 30mins late and landed about 30mins late. Of course, because of this Flighty showed the message "Arrives after departure time of connecting flight". This was all very wrong.
The second flight was from Egypt to Zurich. The flight took off about 1.5 hours ago now (I know because my partner texted me) and on Flighty it still shows "Plane is reportedly still at gate". Even other platforms such as flightaware are showing the plane as in the air with the current position.
There's no point having a beautiful interface if the information is so wrong. I'm not talking minutes off.
The Killer Travel App
I am a frequent flyer and rely on over a dozen travel apps to help with my travels. I log about 300,000 air miles a year and am in an airport 2 to 3 times per week, both US domestic and internationally.
Flighty combines all the best features of TripIt Pro, FlightAware and LoungeBuddy into a single "killer app". By adding flight route history data, actual plane tail tracking and live maps, there is no app I've seen that compares. The pre-flight tracking and in-flight notifcations, along with integration to Apple Watch are game changing.
There are lots of nifty features which enhace the travel experience, such as airline specific contact information and alternative routes, specific to your itinerary. I could go on an on.
The only downside is that it is the most expensive of all the travel apps I have seen. The annual subscription is pricey, but worth it, given the amount I travel.
AMAZING
Flighty has revolutionized the way I travel! As a frequent flyer, I've tried various flight tracking apps, but none compare to the exceptional experience provided by Flighty. Its sleek design, intuitive interface, and real-time updates make it an essential tool for any traveler.
Flighty's accurate flight predictions and proactive alerts have saved me from countless delays and cancellations, allowing me to adjust my plans accordingly. The app's detailed airport and airline information, along with gate changes and baggage claim updates, ensure a stress-free journey.
Additionally, Flighty's personalized insights and historical data contribute to better decision-making while booking future flights. It's like having a personal travel assistant in the palm of your hand!
In conclusion, Flighty is a game-changer for frequent flyers, offering an unparalleled level of convenience and peace of mind. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to stay ahead of their travel plans!
Calendar auto import fails for the frequent business traveller
Sadly, calendar import is almost worthless if you are a frequent traveler and corporate uses Microsoft Exchange. Exchange/Outlook, like Siri, has an awesome feature that will auto add flight reservations that appear in your inbox. It puts the origin airport as the location and then the subject is Airline Flight # to Destination.
But flighty doesn’t understand these.
Open a support ticket and it autosends the json. Support says meh…. It has to have the airport codes and flight number. Open the the json it actually has the airport codes flight number. Nice beautiful machine parseable format.
Ask if development has actually looked at it? Support blows you off with a we have lots of cases they might do it some day.
I mean, come on, it’s not like it’s an escoteric calendar platform. It’s probably the largest corporate email/calendar platform in use.
So yeah, can’t auto import from a calendar with autocreated consistent format calendar entries by Microsoft Outlook.
Half Baked
While all of the advertised functions have worked on my trips, I often found that useful data is not available or not consistently available.
The developer markets that you can see the plane's taxi and runway information. While that's nice and all, it is a good to have, not a must have. I'm surprised that the app doesn't support notification of when boarding starts and when you should head to your gate. Who cares about the taxi and runway info if one misses his/her flight (luckily I didn't rely on this app for that, otherwise I'll miss my flights).
The other item that needs strong improvement is the lack of plane information for international airlines. I travel more internationally than domestically and I find that I need to look up my flight info using the "free" resources I have than this app. That's what's surprising. If I pay for a service, I expect to get much better information compared to free publicly available resources.
Have potential but not there yet. Not for the serious travers, yet.

Flighty monitors your flight 25 hours before departure, tracks inbound flight history to predict delays, and provides arrival forecasts based on historical data, making it unique compared to App in the Air.
Flighty is a comprehensive flight tracking app available for free on the App Store, though it includes optional in-app purchases. It's designed for anyone planning to fly, offering detailed information about flights without tracking you via Facebook or Google SDKs. This means your activity within the app isn't monitored by these companies.
While Flighty provides detailed information on flights, including departure, arrival times, and flight paths, it may not update in real-time as precisely as some other apps. It gives a good representation of a flight's status and path, but for exact real-time tracking, other platforms might offer more up-to-the-second data.
Yes, Flighty includes a feature that directs users to a website detailing COVID-19 travel impact and restrictions by country. This is especially useful for planning trips during the pandemic, helping you stay informed about the changing travel restrictions and guidelines.
Flighty's Pro package offers enhanced notifications, including alerts for delays, gate changes, departure, takeoff, check-in, cancellations, and email TripIt imports. Additional premium features include "Where's My Plane?" alerts, FAA airport delays, connection info, and detailed flight path tracking.
Flighty allows for automatic syncing of flight information through email forwarding, TripIt sync, or calendar sync. By registering your email with Flighty and forwarding your flight confirmation emails, the app can automatically import your flight details, simplifying the tracking process.
Flighty is noted for its exceptional customer support. The development team is responsive and helpful, addressing users' questions and concerns promptly and with care. This level of support enhances the overall user experience and reliability of the app.
Yes, Flighty is a global flight tracking app capable of tracking flights worldwide. Whether you're flying within North America or internationally, Flighty can provide you with comprehensive flight details, including delays, weather conditions, and aircraft information.
Flighty stands out due to its user-friendly interface, absence of tracking by major tech companies, and unique features like morning and check-in assistants, which offer itinerary updates and help with connecting flights. Its focus on privacy, global capability, and detailed flight information make it a valuable app for travelers.
Opinions on the value of Flighty's PRO version vary. Some users feel that it is expensive and may not be worth the investment for those who only travel occasionally. Others might find the enhanced tracking features, notifications, and customer support beneficial for frequent travel.
